Arthur Ryan was born in Massachusetts. His family moved to the Philadelphia suburbs where as a teenager he joined Upper Darby Summer Stage, a nationally recognized theater program. In 1990, Art went to work at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA.

a clumsy Knight. In 1998 Art began working for Historic Philadelphia Inc. As a historical interpreter and storyteller he brings 1776 Philadelphia to life for thousands of tourist each summer. At the Walnut Street Theatre he played "Smokey" in Damn Yankees and "Mr. Robust" in Finian's Rainbow. At The Media Theatre he played "Noodler" in Peter Pan, "Pellinore" in Camelot, "Horton" in Seussical. In 2006 he portrayed "Chief
Sitting Bull" in Annie Get Your Gun, starring Andrea McCardle at the Prince
Music Theater. Industrial films and TV commercials include national ads for DirectTV, and Philadelphia Tourism. Each year Art plays Santa Claus at the historic Dickens
Village display at Macy's Philadelphia.
